CYCLING
There is plenty of cycling to be had in and around
Garstang. The area is flat and the moss roads enjoy very little traffic.

FITNESS SUITE/GYM
Incorporating the latest gym equipment, including
treadmills and rowing machines, as well as free weights, Smith's machine
and 8 individual weight stations in a brand new, purpose-built,
air-conditioned setting. Located at the YMCA Leisure Centre by the Booths

WALKING
The Garstang area is renowned for
its excellent walking. From healthy walks to short circular routes and
from hill treks to the 46-mile Wyre Way, all abilities are catered for.

GOLF
Set on the banks of the Rivers Wyre and Calder,
Garstang Country Hotel and Golf Course
provides an 18 Hole Parkland Course, which measures 6,050 yards
with a Par 68. It provides an interesting test on the outward nine
holes leading to some longer challenging back nine holes. Also
available is a 300 yard, 18 bay floodlit Driving Range with practice
area for those who want to improve their game. For a society or

SWIMMING
The town swimming pool is located at Oak Road,
Garstang and is open to the public each weekday during term time and
daily during school holidays. Our 20-metre pool is
heated for your comfort and offers a full range of swimming sessions
including aqua aerobics, fun inflatables and lessons for both young and
old. Parents can bring their babies to our popular parent & babies
sessions and pre-school children can enjoy 'ducklings' swimming lessons.
Coaching is available for
beginners, improvers and advanced swimmers as well as adult classes and
fitness sessions. Intensive swimming sessions are also available during
school holidays. Also popular is the Garstang amateur swimming

FISHING
Many people come to this area to enjoy fishing,
which is available on the River Wyre, the Lancaster Canal and at a
variety of nearby coarse fishing lakes.
YMCA LEISURE CENTRE
Whether you are looking for the
latest in fitness classes, traditional sports activities such as
badminton and football - or if you simply want to keep the children busy
and active then we can help. The YMCA offer a variety of fitness and
exercise options. The gym provides a total body workout with treadmills,
bikes, rowers and free weights equipment or there are aerobic and
fitness classes - from gentle aerobics to line dancing, yoga and salsa
we have something for every age and ability! Mums and Dads can bring
their 'little ones' to Creepy Crawlies where they can enjoy fun and
games with soft play, trikes and toys.
Older children can train to be
future stars with the junior activity programme providing soccer skills,
judo, ju jitsu, netball and rugby. Or alternatively they can come along
to the Fun Club during school holidays and enjoy an action packed
programme of arts, crafts, sports and swimming. Many sports clubs and
organisations also run classes from our centre, including badminton,
